Here’s a recap of the some of the pulsating action in the past 52 weeks, this one is a Swansong on a lighter note from a fan’s perspective:
For me the year began with the sporting action down under,
Both Rafa and the Indian Cricket team facing the thunder.
The mighty Aussie team handed us an another complete whitewash,
Even the fighter in Nadal was bemused after another Djoker loss.
Cometh March “The Wall” Dravid decided to hang up his cricketing boots,
The Nou Camp Classico witnessed the way a prolific CR7 shoots.

Manchester United slipped up a 8 point lead adding to the Fergie trouble.
Asia Cup saw “The Little Master” notch up his long awaited hundredth ton,
The Kolkatta Knight Riders’ victory finally ended up their horrific run.
By the end of April the Formula one season was up and running,
The competition both in pits and on the track was simply stunning.
The action on the football field in May outclassed the on screen drama,
Augureo’s 93rd minute strike against QPR adding to the United trauma.
At Allianz, it was an another familiar UCL Final Bayern loss’ tale,
Dynamic Drogba ensured the trophy came back to Bridge without any fail.
The fashion capital,Paris saw Nadal reach the unparalleled French seventh heaven,
Meanwhile in Canada Hamilton ensured there were seven different winners in seven.
Spain extended their dominance over world football in Poland and Ukraine,
Even spirited Ronaldo and Pirlo performances went in total vain.
A dejected Rafa was handed a premature end to the year by the unhurled Rasol,
The SW19 final loss to the evergreen Federer was Murray’s wake up call.
Soon the Scott came back to hit the tennis world like a boomerang,
Olympics and the US Open saw him hit out opponents-“BANG BANG”.
By the end of July the London Olympics took the Centre Stage,
The Indian dream of a decent medal tally finally came of age.
Alien Phelps brought down the curtains to a splendid career,
While the Indian National game-Hockey took a reverse gear.
Just like F1 season it was a time for the usual sporting breaks,
The fall of tennis season saw Serena Williams raise up the stakes.
By mid August the European domestic football seasons were up and running,
The little boy in Robin Van Persie decided to be a little cunning.
Du plessis derailed the slow moving Indian T-20 World Cup train,
The phenomenal Messi magic gave birth to -” The Goals Rain”.
The Very Very special Test career had a somewhat ugly end,
Iniesta pipped Ronaldo and Messi to complete the European ascend.
The Champions League Group stage was never more of a such a surprise
Likes of Chelsea, Man City ended up paying the heavy price.
Ibra’s overhead kick seemed a spell from the wizard’s magic wand,
only to be matched by the heroics of Mexes- a trick difficult to comprehend.
Alonso’s lead at the of the F1 driver standings was now gone with the wind,
Vettel was inching towards this third successive Championship winning stint.
RVP and Rooney ensuring defensive mistakes didn’t hamper the United pace,
Barcelona were pulling miles ahead from the Madrid duo in the title race.
The winter began with Alastair Cook preparing the Indian Curries,
Panesar and Anderson compounding the Indian selection panel worries.
December saw the much awaited coming back of Pakistan- our familiar foes,
And a swing bowling attack reminding us of our never ending batting woes.
Just as the year the careers of many sporting greats came to a fall,
Schumi, Pointing, Hussey the big names amongst them all.
None of these retirements had a huge outburst and a heavy fan toll,
Than the “The Little Master” taking his ODI career’s final call.
Just as the 52 weeks of a calendar year, the swansong was an attempt to capture the various sporing moods around the globe. Hope you enjoyed it.
